KCB 11U Team Wins MO/KAN Major State Tournament |

11U Barnstormers ended a spectacular regular season this weekend by winning their 3rd straight State Championship in a row. Coming into the weekend the Barnstormers were 33-1 in pool play this year playing outstanding baseball.
The tournament started on Friday when the Barnstormers played the Mac N Sietz indians, they got off to a slow start and gave up 5 runs in the 1st inning, they slowly battled back, but it was a little to late and they lost 7-5. Saturday came and They played the Mid-Mo Magic and started off slow again, but held a 2-1 lead through 4 innings. Mid-Mo put up 4 runs in the 5th behind some shaky defense and we lost our second straight pool game after only lose 1 all year. The boys were challenged to go home and refocus and get ready for a long day on sunday. If they were to win their third straight title they would have to do it from the bottom. We were the last seed and had to play an extra game just to advance into the semi finals. The boys refocused and took revenge against the Mid-MO magic by beating them 12-3. Next was the number 1 seed Mac-N-Sietz indians, but that didn't scare the boys as they put up 6 runs in the first inning. Behind some great pitching from Mason Green we held a 6-1 lead through 5 innings. After scoring 1 more insurance run in the top of the 6th, the game looked like it was in hand. In the bottom of the inning, Mac n Sietz had bases loaded and no outs. Lucas Krull came in and got a crucial strike-out for the first out, then a hard grounder to 3rd base and Spencer Kaifes stepped on third and threw to first for the double play to end the game. The Championship game was the third game in a row for the Barnstormers but they played with more heart and hustle than any team in the tournament. The Championship game featured the Mac n Sietz Red Sox and they started the game by scoring 5 runs in the top of the first. We could have easily given up and just been happy to make it to the championship but they were not going to be denied. They came to the plate and scored 4 runs of their own and shut the Red Sox down for the rest of the game and took the home the Championship 7-5. It was a great way to end the regular season before preparing for the Elite 32 in Orlando.
