Why do recruiters carry stopwatches? The stopwatch give a coach or scout the opportunity to gain tangible data in several aspects of the game. Above you can see how the stopwatch is used to measure your ability to swing the bat and get out of the box. Major League average time is 4.3 seconds. The clock starts on contact and stops when the player touches 1st base.
When a coach or scout is watching the game it is likely that he will work the stopwatch on every pitch to measure certain aspects of the game. As a player you will never know what or when your tools are being measured. So, to be safe play hard on every play.
Keep an eye on the feature video section to see more tools measured by the stopwatch.

The catcher is the player on the field with the best view of what is happening. At many times during the game all the players on the field have their eyes on him.
